My worst experience in range rover
At 71 years old my 2008 Range Rover Sport Supercharged is far and away the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned. Even at 14 years and 150,000 miles it still looks and runs great. The interior with the exception of a minor split on the side of the drivers seat, is perfect… no tears, no scuffs, no worn chrome; just perfect. Outside the paint is not perfect but it still shines with zero door dings because of the heavyweight steel body panels. Yes, it could use a little clean and polish, but overall, wow! No rust.

It runs perfectly, suspension is good (new air pump this year), and the transmission still shifts smooth as silk. I WANT TO KEEP THIS CAR!

My concern now is how I move forward with this vehicle that I love so much? There is absolutely nothing being offered today that turns my head and the new comparable RRS is north of $125,000; that’s too rich for me and I think the 2008 Ford owned Range Rover is a more solidly built car. I’m doing everything I can to keep it in good shape. The question is “what more can I do to ensure that it keeps running and looking good for the next 10 years?

Yes, I am serious, 10 more years!

Finally i bought black Range rover
As someone who has had 5 Range Rovers, including a 1999 HSE, 2003 HSE, 2005 Westminster, 2008 Supercharged and a 2015 Ebony Edition I feel that I have a good perspective on this question. My vehicles for 5 cars span 3 generations of Rovers and 5 different owners, Rover, BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Tata. There are a few key reasons that we love them so much:

  1. Commanding View of the Road
You sit up high and you can see very well, even over the car in front of you most of the time. That makes them safer to operate.
  2. Unrivaled Off-Road Performance
The real reason that you buy a Range Rover is for what it can do where there are no roads. I have taken it off road with the Rover Club and these vehicles are amazing. Nothing else is like a Range Rover.
  3. Luxury and Comfort
I owned a 2012 Bentley GTC when I bought my 2015 Range Rover Ebony Edition and I have to say that I sold my Bentley because I enjoyed driving the Range Rover more. It was just as comfortable as the Bentley and had more room inside.
  4. Prestige and Cool Factor
Face it, nothing says “South American Drug Dealer” or “African War Lord” quite like an all Black/Black Range Rover.

This is the My favorite Range Rover
They are truly one of the best vehicles in my opinion. I’m not a car genius, but I have tried out many and there is a reason why I own 2 Range Rovers.

I drive a lot. I live in both California and New York and frequently drive to one another very often. I’ve tried large SUV’s that friends recommended. A suburban just doesn’t give you the same experience, neither does any Mercedes suv.

My favorite Range Rover I own is my SVR. I also own a long wheelbase autobiography, but I typically only drive that when I have a lot of luggage or people with me. The SVR has been my daily driver, and I have very few complaints.

It gets me everywhere. Through the snow, through the rain, anywhere in the summer. Across the country is no problem for this vehicle. It truly can take me anywhere.

It’s also fast. Not that I speed often… but this car can truly hit any speed limit with ease and rests at comfortable speeds on the highway. Wind noise is very minimal, and the sound system sounds amazing. The seats are incredibly comfortable as well. Long drives are no problem, and there is plenty of space even without being in the long wheelbase. The drive is amazing. It feels as if it adapts to the roads before you even go over bumps. You will still feel the bumps, but it’s not as brutal as other vehicles. Parking feels easy, and cruising on the highway is incredibly comfortable and easy in this car.

I love mine. When I feel the need to upgrade which will likely be soon I will be buying another Range Rover. I’d love another SVR, I don’t know if they still make them but it would easily be my first choice. The car can do everything I need while giving me and passengers the best experience. Did I mention how beautiful the car looks too?

Why are people crazy about Range Rovers?
I’m a domestic vehicle fan of years, Escalades, Suburbans and Navigators, I like my big SUVs.

Recently traded in a 2019 Lincoln Navigator L Reserve for a new 2021 Range Rover LWB Autobiography (I usually trade every 2 years), I had a 2021 Escalade on order but the order has been delayed due to part shortages. Straight up vs the lincoln:

Interior: I felt domestic luxury was amazing till I got inside this thing, everything is leather/wood, not all plastic, example, navigator leather felt cheap, the dash was rubber etc, the RR, all leather. There’s details that just simply can’t be touched, it is a superior product.

Exterior: I mean I liked the look of the navigator on the outside, had other comments many times it was a sharp vehicle, people would look and compliment, but the RR there’s something else, people assuming someone rich or famous is driving it lol.

Power: The navigator had ample power, was peppy and was fun to drive, but the v8 p525 is something else, the driving dynamics is just absolutely pristine, this SUV is “fun” and comfortable to drive, I tested a west-minister first and the performance/dynamics are no different than my AB, so mechanically not much changes so the guts are the same.

Tech: It was on-par or slightly better with more cool gadgetry than my navigator, but there’s better tech, also own a Audi Q8 and the tech in that thing is insanely amazing and nothing can touch it, the 2021 Escalade id say has better tech.

Reliability: I’m less than 400 miles in so I can’t comment though I’m waiting.

Big things, FUN factor to drive, the vehicle also caters to passengers, especially in the back, the driving dynamics totally blew my navigator out of the water.

Update: So Land Rover has a lot of complaints about “reliability”, I know people that own or have owned them, what I’ve come to realize or notice is that RR owners are Type A personalities, they complain or bring up everything, in life or everything they own, I feel RRs suffer this as their market would be type a or wealthy people. Owning a Lincoln Navigator, I had issues, but I never complained, other navi owners I knew also had the same issues and we didn’t care, none of us reported our issues on the JD Power surveys, now a fellow LT RR owner I know complained of a squeak that was actually from something he put in the back seat compartment, even though its not the vehicles fault he constantly complained about it.
