April 20th, 2018 – Town and County officials, in partnership with Discover Long Island, recently unveiled an industry-leading cooperative marketing campaign between MacArthur Airport and Discover Long Island, at an announcement made at Long Island MacArthur Airport.

The new, multi-faceted cooperative marketing initiative, “Short Flight. Long Island.” slogan is designed to build awareness of Long Island as a destination, and increase demand for MacArthur Airport as a go-to hub. The details of the campaign were made available by Angie Carpenter, Islip Town Supervisor; Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Executive; Shelley LaRose-Arken, Airport Commissioner; and Kristen Jarnagin, President/CEO of Discover Long Island, elected officials, business leaders, and local tourism stakeholders. The Baltimore / Washington D.C. market will serve as the initial target region for the campaign based on research, population, and frequency of service.

April 13th, 2018 – On April 9th, 2018, 72 senior volunteers were recognized for their ongoing service to the Senior Centers of Islip Town. A celebratory breakfast was held at the Oakdale Senior Center, honoring Volunteers from the Caesar Trunzo, Joyce Fitzpatrick, Ronkonkoma, West Islip, and Oakdale Senior Centers. The Volunteers enjoyed a breakfast buffet, dessert and coffee before receiving Certificates of Recognition for their outstanding service to the Islip Senior Centers. “Thank you to the many volunteers who actively engage within our Senior Centers, and help to ensure they remain the wonderful, welcoming assets to our community that they continue to be, year after year,” said Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.



Apirl 12th, 2018 – Yesterday, Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined with Governor Andrew Cuomo as the Governor signed a $18.5M bill to cut off MS-13 recruitment and support comprehensive youth programs on Long Island. Watch the full press conference in the video above.
