Executive Director’s Message
[Image: Randy Blakely]   Our work here at the FAU Brain Institute has the potential to help humanity better understand the building blocks of the brain that make who we are throughout our lives. Our brains change through our everyday experiences and or disease, making different from all other human organs.

The research we’re conducting into the genetics, molecules, synapses, circuitry, plasticity in the developing and aging brain can help alleviate some of the most vexing brain disorders millions suffer. Our scientists are finding ways to improve the lives of those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, bipolar disorder, drug abuse and addiction, schizophrenia, and mood and anxiety disorders, to just name a few.

We’re also training the next generation of neuroscientists, working side-by-side with some of the brightest students who are making advances in brain science. In the lab and in classrooms, our academic programs across the University providing students with a world-class education. Our educational reach extends beyond our campuses as well, with brain exhibits, public lectures and activities from students from the kindergarten through high school.

It’s an exciting time to be part of research enterprise at FAU. We’re making great strides in neuroscience across the university.
